Pyre

Released $5 on itch $3.50 to 5 Nov 17 types 286 frames 10 props PNG + Aseprite JSON

Animated fire, smoke and explosion sprites for 2D games. Camp and bonfires, torches, candles, braziers, burning ground, forge coals, blue and green and purple magic fire, smoke, steam, a fireball, a will-o-wisp, an explosion, a flamethrower jet and floating embers. Plus ten props for them to burn in.

Ten of the Pyre sprites on a dark ground: blue, green and purple flames, an explosion and a fireball along the top, and burning ground, a campfire, a tall bonfire, a brazier and a torch standing along the bottom.
01: What it is
All seventeen Pyre sprites animating at once in a grid: fires flickering, smoke and steam rising, a fireball travelling, a wisp bobbing and an explosion bursting.
All seventeen, running

Every looping type runs its last frame straight back into its first, so you can set it going and leave it. Most fire packs have a visible hitch where the animation restarts. These don't. The explosion is the exception, and is meant to play once.

The ten Pyre props, each with a flame burning in it: four iron fire bowls lit orange, blue, green and purple, a tripod brazier, a torch post, a brick forge hearth, a candlestick, and two rings of logs and stones.
Ten props to burn them in

Every prop is split into the layers it needs, most of them a back and a front. Draw the back, then the flame, then the front, and the fire sits down inside the bowl instead of standing on its rim. Each prop carries a seat and each flame a foot, so putting one in the other is a single subtraction.

Types
17, from a 12×20 candle up to a 48×48 bonfire, with a 64×32 flamethrower jet the widest
Frames
286 in total, 12 to 24 per type
Props
10: a fire bowl in four colours, a tripod brazier, a torch post, a brick forge hearth, a candlestick and two rings of logs. Each at 1x, 2x and 4x, whole and split into the layers it needs. Most have a back and a front; the candlestick has only a back, and the two rings of logs only a front
Sheets
One strip per type at 1x, 2x and 4x. The upscales are nearest neighbour, so they stay crisp
Separate frames
Every frame again as its own PNG, for engines that prefer them
Data
Aseprite format JSON, so Godot and Unity pick up sizes and timing on their own
Palette
A locked ramp of no more than seven colours per type, never blended into an eighth, so it stays true pixel art. Most types use all seven; the green flame and the embers use six. The whole set of 49, seven ramps of seven, ships in the pack as a .gpl for Aseprite, GIMP and Krita, a .hex for Lospec, and a swatch sheet. Every ramp runs brightest core to darkest edge in the same order, so swapping one for another recolours a flame without redrawing it
Background
Transparent throughout. Smoke, steam and embers are built on partial alpha so they sit over a scene. The flames are opaque where they are lit, bar a thin fringe at the edge of a tongue
Viewer
The pack opens with a catalogue that plays every sprite offline, steps through any loop a frame at a time, and shows each prop with its flame burning in it
Licence
Use in commercial and non commercial projects, no credit required. The art itself isn't for reselling
